Escape the city and go on a hike - Mount Uetliberg
The local train S 10 leaves from Zurich main station track 21/22 and departs every 20 minutes.
The train will take you in 27 minutes almost to the top of the Mountain. An easy 10-minute walk will bring you up to Uto Kulm.
From there you have a magnificent view of the whole city of Zurich. You will find there further a Restaurant and a 30-meter viewing platform (access CHF 2.- per Person) from where you have even better views of the city. Enjoy the panorama and take great pictures.
On Uto Kulm, there is as well a 4 Star hotel located where you could stay overnight. Start your day the best way, by watching the sun rise over Zurich. The prices are lower than in the city center, so if you travel on a budget and you don`t mind the walk and the train ride this is, in my opinion, a better alternative to an Airport hotel for example. Luggage service from the train station can be arranged and is included.
If you want to take a longer hike, I recommend taking a hike to `Luftseilbahn Felsenegg`. It will take about 1.5 hours. Just follow the signposts. An aerial cable car will take you down to Adliswil where you can take the S4 train which runs every 10 or 20 minutes back to Zurich main station.
You only need the Zurich card for this trip.
Limmat river cruise
From 2 April to 22 October, you can take the small river boats on the river Limmat. They make a one hour round trip to Lake Zurich. It passes seven bridges and offers a view of Zurich`s old town and the most beautiful sights Zurich has to offer. Best departure point is the Landesmuseum landing stage close to Zurich main station.
In the case of high water level or strong currents, this service can be canceled.
For the River cruise a Zone 110 (city center) ticket and a boat surcharge of CHF 5.- has to be paid. With a ZurichCard you only pay CHF 5.-
Relax with a panoramic view from a rooftop pool
On a cold or rainy day, there is nothing better to do as heading to thermalbad&spa at the Hürlimann Areal, a former brewery. The view over the city from the rooftop pool is outstanding. But there's more: you can relax in huge wooden water-filled tubs of the old brewery in the basement and for an additional payment you can enjoy treatments at the Irish-Roman spa with its steam baths and shallow pools.
General Admission fee: Adults CHF 36.- Children 18.- (1-6 years of age for free)
Shopping in Zurich
Located between Zurich main station and the lake of Zurich
is the Bahnhofstrasse.
A watch or a suit, Louis Vuitton, Hermes,
Jelmoli House of Brands, Manor and so much more.
Here you can find everything from electronics, Jeans
up to 7 figure watches. The one street in Zurich that
caters to all your shopping needs.
Relax in between at the outside tables of the famous
Confiserie Sprüngli with a coffee and try some of the world famous Luxemburgerli. It is located in the middle of the Bahnhofstrasse, on Paradeplatz. The center of Swiss finance.
On Saturdays between May and October, you will find a flea market on Bürkliplatz at the lake end of the Bahnhofstrasse for your vintage souvenirs. It`s open between 7 am to 5 pm.
Many more stores can be found in the Shopville, the shopping center at the Zurich main station. Here you find fewer luxury brands and more things for everyday wear and electronics as well.
