Mount Säntis is popular among locals and visitors alike. Swiss citizens love to go up, whether to catch some sunlight on a foggy winter day or for some cool air in the summer months. A trip to the peak is always a great excursion.
We depart from the Zurich main station and travel to the eastern part of Switzerland. After a scenic journey through the Canton of Appenzell and a short ride on a traditional PostBus over the Schwägalp mountain pass, we reach the base station of the Säntis cableway. A spectacular ride on the Säntis cableway awaits us. We reach the top, located at 2472 meters above sea level (8110 ft.) around noon.
From this mountain, part of the Appenzeller Alps and the highest peak of the Alpstein region, you have a sensational view: On a clear day, you can see from the peak six countries: Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, France, Italy, and Switzerland. You have plenty of time for a relaxed lunch at the panorama restaurant.
As this is a private tour, it's your choice how long you want to stay on the mountain peak. We can stay up to 3 PM. On our way back we make a quick detour and visit Appenzell. You have to see this quaint village with it's gorgegeous architecture. If you wan't you can have here dinner before we return to Zurich. With lots of nice impressions and many good pictures we return to Zurich where we arrive between 6 and 9 PM.
