Gornergrat - Matterhorn day tour from Zurich
Your private guide will meet you at your hotel or Apartment in Zurich. Start your day without any worries.
Between 7 and 8 AM, we start our train journey to Zermatt. Instead of taking the fast train that travels through a lot of tunnels, we change trains in Bern and take the regional train which takes the mountain route, our first, out of many beautiful train journeys today.
In Brig, we change to another regional train that will bring us all the way up to Zermatt. We arrive around noon/12 o` clock.
In Zermatt, we take you on a small walk through this beautiful car-free town.
Soon after, we board the Gornergrat train. We make a stop at the station Riffelalp. An easy 15-minute hike will bring us to a lake. At the back of the lake awaits the gorgeous Matterhorn. A tranquil place to be and to take wonderful pictures. We can take a little bit of a further hike there or just relax, as you wish before we return to the Gornergratbahn for the rest of the journey to the very top. The Gornergrat. The railway station is located on 3,090 m/ 10,140 ft.
The view from here is truly spectacular, right in front of us is the Monte Rosa massif. You will have enough time to relax enjoy the panorama and have some lunch if you like. Between 5 and 6 PM, we start our way back to Zermatt and take from there the most direct train back to Zurich.
We arrive between 10-11 PM at the Zurich central station from where we will escort you back to your hotel.
If you want to be back earlier, we can shorten the stay on the Gornergrat. Without to much rush, we could be back as soon as 9 o`clock. As this is a private tour, it`s totally up to you how
much time you want to spend at this attraction.
