About Swissdaytours - your Swiss excursion specialist

Hello! Thank you for your interest me and my company.

I'm Mark Huggenberger, the company founder. Let me tell you a little about the history and what I do.

The first time I thought about starting a company like SWISSDAYTOURS, was back in 2013. At this time I was working at a small bookstore located close to a train station.

As the train station was often unattended, many people came to us looking for help. They got lost due to route diversions, operational disruption, or a planning error. So many disappointed visitors were telling me about their big plans for the day and how little they managed to do. All that leads, of course, to frustration and missed expectation as they wasted their precious day in Switzerland, and some even had to book a costly extra night at a hotel as they couldn't reach their destination before the end of operations at night.

What went wrong? All these people had a brilliant plan. They didn't want to spend the day on a big tour bus in traffic and follow a guide carrying a flag in a big group. They have chosen to see this beautiful country as locals do and travel on the many scenic routes that the extensive Swiss Railway network has to offer.

Unfortunately, they didn't have any help from a native citizen, who knows the country and the train system like the back of his hand, all the tips and tricks, and speaks the local language.

A few years later a business partner was visiting Switzerland and of course, wanted to see more of Switzerland than our offices. As I was very busy with work, I searched for a private guide.

All I found were day tours in the price range from 1500 to 2000 US Dollars (based on 2 Adults), a minimum of two passengers and they didn't even include the quite expensive mountain railway tickets for the passengers and the guide. Some of them even didn't cover the meals for the guide. Let's hope you don't get a guide who is too hungry I guess...

Now I knew why so many people were trying to do it by themselves. Honestly, at this price, I would do the same.

I can understand companies charging prices like those, as operating a car for the conveyance of passengers is very expensive in Switzerland.

Therefore SWISSDAYTOURS was founded, offering car-free tours by trains and corresponding mountain railways & aerial cableways at very competitive prices for private guided tours in Switzerland.

Doing tours by train has other significant benefits as well. There are no driving time limitations for your guide. You can travel further, make the most out of your time. Your guide doesn't need to focus on traffic, you, our valued customer, will have the full attention.

After developing and testing many excursions for you from Zurich, Lucerne, and Interlaken, a range of perfect tours were created. In early 2017 my website went online. I'm very grateful that I have the opportunity to show the beauty of my country to many visitors from all over the world.

My tour prices include already all train & mountain railway tickets, seat reservation fees and surcharges, the guides meals, and even the gratuities. All my private guided tours are available to solo travelers as well.

Travel with me worry-free. As your native private guide, I will show you some of the world's most scenic train routes and the best places in the Swiss Alps. Make the most out of your time in Switzerland with SWISSDAYTOURS Mark Huggenberger.

I hope to see you soon!

Best regards,

Mark
