Due to the short travel distance, compared to our other tours and the attractive prices for the Gelmer funicular we can offer you this trip at an exceptionally low price for a day tour with a private guide in Switzerland.
We depart from Interlaken by train around 9AM. After a scenic half-hour journey, we change to a traditional Swiss Postbus. After a short ride, we reach the station of Handegg.
From there we cross a 15-minute walk will bring us to the Base station of the Gelmerbahn. Along the way, we cross the Handegg suspension bridge which leads over the Grimsel mountain pass road.
Now we are ready to board the Gelmer funicular. It`s a one of a kind funicular, with its open-air carriage and with a gradient of 106°, it`s one of the steepest funiculars in Europe.
After this thrilling ride, we`ll be rewarded with beautiful scenery of the Swiss Alps and the Gelmersee. After an hour by the lake, we return to Interlaken, where we arrive at half-past three.
Please note there is no restaurant at the Lake Gelm. You`ll be able to purchase soft drinks, Ice cream, and traditional Swiss sausages & cheese at the base station of the Gelmerbahn. If you want a different snack for lunch, please purchase it in advance and take it with you.
This tour requires two 15-minute walks on uneven surfaces.
Optionally and for a surcharge of only CHF 9.- per Person (including the guide) we can visit the Aare Gorge on the way back. With the Aare Gorge visit the return time to Interlaken will be approx. Between 7-8 PM. There is a restaurant available at the Aare Gorge site.
